FreeFACTS - July 2020
24 August 2020 - The latest crime statistics show that violent crime still remains at very high levels. The rate of murder has not decreased in the past three years and South Africa has the third highest murder rate of any large country (after Venezuela and Brazil). The increase in crime can be linked to the decline of the SAPS (as well as other government institutions) which began under former President Jacob Zuma, but which shows no sign of changing under his successor, Cyril Ramaphosa.
